Weekend of birding…..

Starting at Steart Marshes in Somerset a new reserve managed by WWT.  Large numbers of Golden Plover and Dunlin.

A wet and wind day on the Exe and RSPB reserve at Topsham.  The tide was in and all the waders were on the Bowling Green Marsh.  A movie of Black-tailed Godwit fighting over a worm.

Charlcote

The Tree Wardens visited Charlcote yesterday.  Talk by John Stokes on Ash Die-back disease.  He thinks that in 10 years we will have very few Ash Trees left.

We walk round Charlcote Park to see the good agricultural work carried out on the old Lime avenue.  Neil M explained the work and the reason for it.  We were all very impressed.

North Norfolk September 2016

The north Norfolk coast affords some of the best birding and wildlife in Britain.  The narrow area between the sea and the coast road is a mixture and marsh and sand dunes and has some superb nature reserves.  To the west the Wash and Snettersham and to the east Cley Marshes with Titchwell in the middle.
